THE BUTTENZUP IMPACT PODCAST — EPISODE 4

WHO TAKES CARE OF THE WOMAN TAKING CARE OF EVERYONE ELSE?

She’s the one everyone depends on.

The one holding it together.
Showing up for the family.
The work.
The responsibilities.
The emotional weight nobody else sees.

But when it comes to her

she waits.

In Episode 4 of The ButtenZup Impact Podcast, Marchelle opens up about the emotional weight so many women carry silently every day and asks the question too many people overlook:

Who is checking on the woman taking care of everyone else?

This heartfelt conversation explores:
caregiving burnout
emotional exhaustion
women putting themselves last
delayed checkups and early detection
the connection between women’s health and cancer awareness
and why choosing yourself is not selfish… it’s necessary

Especially during May, as we recognize women’s health and cancer awareness, this episode is a reminder that awareness starts with conversation… but action is what changes lives.

If you’ve ever said:
“I’ll go later.”
“I’m too busy.”
“Let me get through this week first…”

This conversation is for you.

[00:00:00] You're listening to the Buttons Up Impact, where awareness becomes action and one conversation can change everything. [00:00:09] Hey everyone. Welcome back to episode four of the Buttons Up Impact podcast. Before we get into today's conversation, I just want to take a moment and say thank you. Thank you for the love, thank you for the prayers. Thank you for every message, every share, every comment, and every person who has checked in in on me, my family, this movement and Buttons Up. I read more messages than people probably realize. And I want you to know that I feel every single one of them. I appreciate every single one of them. And I'm so grateful for every single one of you. This community has become so much bigger than apparel, so much bigger than a podcast. It's become family. [00:01:00] And I just want to say thank you for continuing to walk with me through this journey. I want to start today with a picture that I think a lot of women listening will recognize. Maybe it's early in the morning. The house is already moving. Someone needs breakfast. Someone forgot something for school. Your phone is buzzing. Emails are coming in. There's work to do. People need answers. People need your time. People need your energy. [00:01:29] And before you've even had your coffee, you've already given pieces of yourself away to everyone else. Then maybe your body whispers something. A headache, a pain, a tightness, exhaustion. [00:01:43] That feeling in your gut where something just feels off. [00:01:47] And what do so many women say? I'll deal with it later. Not because they don't care, but because everyone else feels more urgent. [00:01:57] That's what stayed on my heart after Mother's Day this year, because we spend a whole day celebrating women, but not enough time asking who is checking on her? Who is checking on the woman taking care of everyone else? [00:02:11] That's why this conversation matters so much right now. [00:02:16] May is a month centered around awareness, cancer awareness, women's health awareness, mental health awareness, preventative care, early detection, and awareness matters. But at Buttons up, we've always believed something Awareness is not enough. [00:02:34] Action saves lives. Because awareness means, you know, Action means you make the appointment, you ask the question, you get checked, you stop pushing it off until later. Here's why this According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight women in the United States will develop invasive breast cancer in in her lifetime. Ovarian cancer remains one of the hardest cancers to detect early because the symptoms are often easy to dismiss or easy to explain away. [00:03:07] Research also continues to show that women are more likely than men to delay medical care because they are caring for children, partners, parents, work responsibilities, or simply trying to carry everything at once. [00:03:22] And if we're honest, so many women have normalized, running on empty, normalized pain, normalized exhaustion, normalized putting themselves last. And that's dangerous because early detection changes outcomes, early detection creates options, and early detection saves lives. [00:03:45] This is exactly why Buttons up exists, why we create every piece of apparel. Because every hoodie, every shirt, every bracelet is more than something you wear. It's a conversation starter, a reminder, a message, a movement. [00:04:03] When someone sees messages like stronger than you think, positive energy only, or kick cancer's ass, it becomes bigger than fashion. It becomes awareness. Support healing, community. [00:04:18] If you haven't seen the latest collections yet, I'd love for you to visit ButtonsUP IO and take a look. Wear the message, gift it to someone, start a conversation. Because sometimes one shirt leads to one conversation. And one conversation can change everything. [00:04:38] I also want to talk about something really special we're building right now. [00:04:44] Buttons Up. Hoops for Hope. This event means so much to me. It's more than basketball, more than a tournament. It's a way to bring our community together through connection, healing, awareness, support, and action. [00:05:01] We'll have a three on three tournament, a three point contest, a free throw challenge, prizes, music, community, and a chance to raise awareness and support cancer research in a way people can truly feel. If you've seen the Hoops for Hope flyer, I invite you to go learn more inside the bizina box. And if you're interested in donating, sponsoring, partnering, volunteering, or helping us bring this event to life, we would love your support. [00:05:35] Before we close, I want to speak directly to the woman listening right now. The one holding everything together. The one carrying everyone, the one showing up for everyone else. The one exhausted, the one overwhelmed, the one who keeps saying later, I want to remind you, you matter too. Your health matters. Your peace matters. Your body matters. Your life matters. Choosing yourself is not selfish. Checking on yourself is not selfish. Making the appointment is not selfish. Resting is not selfish. Asking for help is not selfish. Ch you deserve care too. If today's conversation touched you, share it. Send it to another woman who needs to hear it. Your mom, your sister, your daughter, your friend, your coworker. Someone who keeps taking care of everybody else while forgetting herself. [00:06:35] And while you're there, visit ButtonsUP IO, explore the latest podcast episodes, check out the newest apparel, learn more about Hoops for Hope. Support the mission. Because Buttons up is more than a brand. It's awareness. It's healing. It's action. It's impact. And together, we keep the conversation going. [00:06:59] Because awareness starts the conversation and action saves lives. [00:07:05] Thank you for being here, thank you for listening, and thank you for being part of the Buttons up family. [00:07:12] If this episode moved you, share it with someone you love. Because awareness only travels as far as we carry it.
